How Might We understand internal employee relationships between managers and direct reports, identify gaps leading to fewer internal promotions, and surface opportunities for change?

 

Research Process

  1. Research Plan: We outlined a research plan with learning objectives for our client’s review. Once approved, our client began recruiting participants for each of the 10 focus group sessions.

  2. Discussion Guide: We aggregated questions to guide our conversations with managers and direct-reports and collaborated with our client team to pare down the sets.

  3. Focus Group Sessions: We facilitated 10 focus group sessions with supervisors/managers and direct-reports across office and production floor employees. We captured notes and quotes in Miro.

Wrap Up

We concluded the workshop by capturing the “Top 3” ideas from each ideation session. Armed with ownership of the workshop and research materials and involvement throughout the process, and they took their ideas to their leadership team and made a case to start implementing their ideas.
